You can use the Hyperlink API to create all manner of re-usable links to drive action in Workiro.
Don't worry, you don't have to be technical or a coder to do this!
As a simple example, you could create a shortcut on Windows or MacOS to create a new task from anywhere. This saves you extra time and clicks to have to open the Workiro app before opening a new task.
Creating a keyboard shortcut on Windows
Step 1 - Create a shortcut
Right-click on your Windows desktop and select New -> Shortcut from the context menu.
When presented with the Create Shortcut wizard, enter the following Workiro Hyperlink API link in the Type the location of the item field.
workiro://app.workiro.com?create=thread
Click Next.
Give your shortcut a name, such as New Workiro Thread.
Click Finish.
Step 2 - Assign a Keyboard Shortcut
Once you've created your shortcut (Step 1 above), right-click it and select Properties from the context menu.
On the Web Document tab of the shortcut properties window, click into the Shortcut key field.
With the cursor focus on the Shortcut key field, press the keyboard keys you want to assign as your keyboard shortcut, e.g. CTRL-ALT-G. Use whatever is easiest for you to remember.
If you have selected an available combination of keys (i.e. not assigned to something else or used by the operating system), the Shortcut key field will update with your selection.
Click OK.
Step 3 - Try it out
Run your selected keyboard shortcut and Workiro will come into focus (or start up if it's not already running) and initiate creating a new thread 🎉

Advanced Step
Do you tend to create tasks with the same people e.g. with your team?
Do you want to create a shortcut to open a task with these people more easily?
To pre-add a specific participant to your thread, you'll need to use this Workiro Hyperlink API link:
workiro://app.workiro.com?create=thread&participants=
but also adding the email addresses of those participants to the end of this link, replacing the @ character in the email address with %40. Then use this as the full link to paste into your shortcut.
e.g. To create a keyboard shortcut to quickly open a to-do/note with Louise, the Workiro Director of Customer Success, paste the following link in the Type the location of the item field in your Create Shortcut wizard (Step 1).
workiro://app.workiro.com?create=thread&participants=louise.linsey%40workiro.com
If you want to pre-add multiple people, then those email addresses need to be separated by a comma when adding to the end of your link.
e.g.
workiro://app.workiro.com?create=thread&participants=louise.linsey%40getbusy.com,joe.bloggs%40gmail.com,johndoe%40@gmail.com
You can now create a Workiro task at lightning speed ⚡ no matter what's currently on your screen, and even with your eyes closed!
